Decibel Malbec 2021

A Decibel classic, with Daniel Brennan making this Malbec since 2009. This release is a blend of two vineyards on the gravelly soils of Hawke’s Bay’s State Highway 50, where deep, free-draining gravels left by the shifting Ngaruroro River provide excellent heat retention and long, even ripening. The exceptional 2021 vintage brought a warm summer and very dry autumn, producing a wine with generous fruit, excellent tannin structure and impressive ageing potential. After a five-day cold soak and natural fermentation, the wine spent 25 days on skins before ageing for 21 months in neutral French oak.
Deep purple and intensely aromatic, with fragrant violets, cardamom and ripe plum leading into layers of bramble, blackberry, black cherry and spice. Bright acidity and soft, fine tannins provide balance and length, making this a remarkably versatile red with plenty of depth. Enjoy with grilled vegetables, barbecued meats or boldly spiced dishes.

If your wine is ‘corked’ or otherwise spoiled, please re-cork/close it and bring it to the shop for inspection; do not empty the container and bring an empty bottle. Under these circumstances, the alcohol can be returned for a full refund or exchanged.
