About us

Our story

Welcome to Pash & Glou! We're an organic and natural wine store, where passion, friendship, and sustainability come together to offer you an unforgettable wine experience.

Our story began with three friends who shared a love for natural wine and a deep appreciation for the art of small production winemaking. United by a common vision to bring organic and natural wines to the forefront, we embarked on a journey to create a retail store, e-commerce platform and wine club where quality, authenticity, and environmental consciousness take center stage.

We carefully curate a selection of wines from small, independent producers who prioritize sustainable, organic and biodynamic practices. Each sip is a celebration of the earth's bounty and the dedication of winemakers who honor the terroir and craft exceptional wines with minimal intervention. We believe that wine is more than just a beverage – it is a reflection of our values and a way to connect with nature and each other.

What is natural wine?

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in natural wine among wine enthusiasts and environmentally conscious consumers. But what exactly is natural wine, and how does it differ from conventional wines? Natural wine is a type of wine made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes without the use of synthetic chemicals or additives in the vineyard or winemaking process. This means that natural winemakers refrain from using pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and synthetic fertilizers in the vineyard. In the cellar, they avoid additives such as commercial yeast, enzymes, and fining agents, opting for a minimalist approach to winemaking.

Characteristics of natural wine

Natural winemaking focuses on minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar, allowing the grapes and indigenous yeast to ferment spontaneously without external manipulation.

Natural wines are typically unfiltered and unfined, retaining more of their natural character, cloudiness, and sediment compared to conventional wines. This can result in unique and sometimes unpredictable flavors and textures.

While sulfites are a natural byproduct of fermentation, natural winemakers aim to limit the use of sulfur dioxide as a preservative in their wines. This can make natural wines more approachable for individuals sensitive to sulfites.

Natural wines are often referred to as "living wines" due to the presence of natural yeasts and bacteria that continue to evolve and develop in the bottle. This can result in wines that may change over time and exhibit a sense of vitality and authenticity.

Why choose natural wine?

Natural winemaking practices prioritize environmental sustainability by promoting organic farming methods, biodiversity in the vineyard, and minimal waste in the winemaking process.

By allowing the grapes to express their true essence without the influence of artificial additives or manipulation, natural wines offer a genuine reflection of terroir and vintage variation.

Natural wines often showcase a diverse range of flavors and profiles, from funky and wild to elegant and balanced, appealing to adventurous drinkers seeking new taste experiences.

Natural wine represents a return to traditional and artisanal winemaking practices that celebrate the unique character of each vineyard and vintage. By embracing natural wines, consumers can not only enjoy delicious and authentic wines but also support sustainable, ethical, and environmentally friendly practices in the wine industry.
