Decibel Chenin Blanc - 2023

This single-vineyard Chenin Blanc comes from the organic Two Terraces vineyard in the Mangatahi Terraces, inland Hawke’s Bay, where shallow stony silt loams and red metal soils create wines with striking aromatics and elegant structure. The vineyard is farmed by dedicated growers Ian and Linda Quinn, with two Chenin Blanc clones (220 and 880) contributing a broad spectrum of flavour.
Picked in mid-April, the fruit was pressed directly into two 500L puncheons and a 600L demi-muid, where it fermented naturally and slowly to almost dry. One barrel retained a touch of sweetness, adding subtle roundness to the finished blend alongside its bright acidity. Unfined and crossflow filtered before bottling, the wine is mineral-driven and refined, with lemon peel, grapefruit curd, wet stones, honeysuckle and a touch of lanolin and beeswax. 93 points – James Suckling.

Per Michigan state law, alcohol returns may only be accepted if the product is demonstrably spoiled or contaminated or the container is damaged to the extent that the contents would be of an unsanitary nature or unfit for consumption. If your wine is ‘corked’ or otherwise spoiled, please re-cork/close it and bring it to the shop for inspection; do not empty the container and bring an empty bottle. Under these circumstances, the alcohol can be returned for a full refund or exchanged.
